The twenty-year-old Gida, having just survived his first amorous disappointment, falls for Katinka, the young widow, at first sight. They hang out in Buda, row on the Danube, and are just about to have their first intimate date at Gida's, when a suspicious mammy opens up the door. Katinka invites him to her house in Esztergom and treats him to such a five course-dinner that instead of courting, his powers suffice only as long as the bathroom. He tries to simmer his troubled stomach by the cool waves of the Danube, and ends up at the police station. Next day he knocks on Katinka's door in vain; she is just entertaining her bridegroom-to-be, doctor Bertalan. Gida soon finds consolation again; he catches sight of an attractive girl on the boat, and they begin exchanging glances. (texte officiel du distributeur)
