anglais Together with Revolt of Toys, this is probably Hermina Týrlová's most famous film. I remember well, when I was a little boy, how on Saturday mornings on Channel 2 they regularly broadcast a brilliant programme hosted by Břetislav Pojar that introduced viewers to the works of our then world-famous animation school, starting with Jiří Trnka and ending with the lesser-known films of the Bratři v triku studio, and they showed this train cartoon several times. I don't remember why I liked it so much, I guess I was impressed by the behaviour of the naughty train, which throws coal on people, does whatever it likes and not even a freight train, a piano barricade and a cow on the tracks can stop it. But seriously, the animation is adorable, starting with the colourful scenery and ending with the cute train puppets. The landscape behind the tunnel, with its barbed wire, ravens and cobwebs, is depressing as hell, and Karel Höger's urgently pleading voice fits here like to perfection. ()
