anglais I didn't have any great expectations before watching Up For Love, so I was very pleasantly surprised with this pretty original romantic spectacle. Jean Dujardin as the lovelorn Alexandre was almost comical at his height of 136 cm, and he and the charming Virginia Efira made a very atypical lovelorn couple. I have to admit that I laughed my head off each time I saw them. However, I was most amused by Alexander petting the dog by mistake. (75%) ()

anglais Up for Love is a fairly ordinary romantic comedy, but when you cast two such charming actors in the lead roles, it simply has to entertain you. But it's a clear calculation because it's obvious that the diminished Jean Dujardin can still captivate all viewers. If it were a different, unknown guy, maybe it would be more unique. ()

anglais I'm not a big fan of French cinema, but this film is up there with my few favorites. The central couple was well cast, and the plot had an easy-flowing pace, yet it kept me entertained throughout. I was only disappointed by the final scene. I wish it hadn’t featured the parachute. This way it almost ruined the story for me. A great thing about the film was its criticism of morons who act on their prejudices and constantly whine about what others think of them. I've never understood that attitude. Why should it matter to me what a complete stranger who I don't care about thinks of me? Let everyone think or say what they want about me, I can count the ones who could hurt my feelings on the fingers of one hand. And that's why I liked the movie so much. If it hadn't pushed so hard at the end, it would warrant five stars. ()
