Screenwriter, director, poet, essayist, and university teacher Eduard Grečner. This documentary profile gives him the main word, and despite his age he manages very precisely to outline the salient features and common denominator underlying all stages in his career. Numerous Slovak film historians similarly reflect on these periods, and they confirm that Grečner’s enduring efforts at achieving a “truthfulness of expression” were of great importance for Slovak cinema. His work helped to overcome the rigidity of socialist realism, it introduced existential themes, and responded critically to contemporary events in society. (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)
