anglais It must be acknowledged that fitting a rather controversial subject about a young genius into a rather serious theme like anti-Nazi activity is a quite risky move. Fortunately, the multi-dimensional plot is very well developed, offering the audience a series of well-timed surprises and twists, for which the director definitely deserves praise. He skillfully balances tension and family sentiment, which thankfully is not overwhelming. Perhaps only the ending is somewhat "sweet," but in a way, it's the only possible conclusion. Surprisingly, I have no objections regarding the performances, and especially the portrayal of the young protagonist is excellent. It's a pity that the most cohesive psychological background was ultimately absorbed by the villain portrayed by Klaus Maria Brandauer. Four stars, with a wink. ()
