anglais The Balkans are a) melancholy, b) hysterical, c) violent, and d) backward. With this film, we can add to the mix the turn of silent and sound film and some of the old and still valid stories around this historical phenomenon. The girl who loses her place in the movie theater by switching to sound film tries to become the new Hedy Kiesler (although Hedy Lamarr is repeatedly mentioned here, she didn't become Hedy Lamarr until mid-1938), the gramophone records play exclusively German hits and it's all kind of pointless. Everything and everyone is played by a disappointing lame old man interested in women's cleavage as much as in the neighborhood's hemlines. ()
