The biggest mystery of L'Atalante and Grand Illusion remains the influence of Dita Parlo on Madonna (think of Erotica and Sex in 1992 "My name is Dita, I'll be your mistress tonight...") and Dita von Teese. How this could inspire anyone to do anything is a mystery to me.

Well, not all classics have to touch me so deeply that I understand and love them. "Atalanta" simply didn't touch me, it didn't say anything to me, and as a romantic film, I didn't really like it. Maybe I will understand the magic of Viggo's films more often, but that hasn't happened yet. There are interesting scenes here, no doubt, but I guess I don't understand the meaning of the movie, or I don't know...
