When a respected New York homicide detective (Robert De Niro) discovers the prime suspect in a murder case is his estranged son (James Franco), he is forced to return home to the decaying boardwalks of Long Beach, Long Island to confront the darkness of his past. During the course of the investigation, he realizes that his failures as a father - and his unresolved anguish about the painful estrangement - have deeply influenced his son's life, and he must put his own life on the line in order to do right by both his family and his profession. français Psychologie trop superficielle. Trop bavarde. Les acteurs jouent plus avec leur bouche qu'avec leurs yeux. Et trop longue inutilement. L'histoire aurait pu être racontée en quatre-vingts minutes. Bien qu'ils en aient fait un drame familial télévisé. ()

anglais Robert De Niro only delivers his acting standard, which is indeed very solid, but his typical style is only seen once throughout the entire film, and that’s quite little. The other actors tend to overact, which is partially the fault of the screenwriter. Even experienced director Michael Caton-Jones, who usually maintains a solid pace in his films, did not quite succeed here. The film drags on quite boringly, the dialogues are slow, there’s not much of a drive to speak of, and practically there are no action scenes. ()
