Le légendaire Zatoichi se retrouve aux prises avec une bande de hors-la-loi qui se cache dans un village. Tandis que les bandits se cachent dans un grenier, ils tentent de manipuler et de corrompre le chef du village. Pendant ce temps, Zatoichi tente d'arracher une jeune femme de ses misérables conditions de vie et de travail, ce qui le conduit à affronter non seulement le maire du village, mais la bande de hors-la-loi... A piece that has a lot of emotional and very strong moments in it. Right at the beginning, there's a great scene where blood spurts out in an amazing fountain from the slain. The Japanese certainly weren't afraid of blood, and over the course of a few years, you can see a beautiful development in that regard. Zatoichi is basically a tragic figure here and there's hardly a smile to be had.
