A Woman

Jeanine Meerapfel travels in time to reconstruct the unique biography of a woman whose experiences resemble those of many others –none other than her own mother. From France to Germany, from Germany to Holland and from there to Argentina, the story of Marie-Louise Chatelaine takes place over the course of many decades and in different continents. The film echoes the drifts of many male and –especially– female immigrants; intimate experiences that also synthesize a large part of the 20th century. Are we the place to which we arrive?
