Albert Serra

Albert Serra landed, in 2006, with his second movie, Honor de cavalleria, recognition at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes, to which he would return, as part of the Semaine de la Critique, with El cant dels ocells (Birdsong, 2008), winner of the Gaudi Awards for Best Catalan Language Film, Best Director and Best Cinematography. In 2013, Historia de la meva mort (Story of My Death) carried off the Golden Leopard at Locarno Festival. Next came La mort de Louis XIV (The Death of Louis XIV, 2016), Roi Soleil (2018), winner of the Grand Prix at the FIDMarseille, and Liberté (Freedom, 2019), which bagged the Special Jury Prize in Un Certain Regard at the Festival de Cannes, where he competed for the Palme d'Or in 2022 for the first time with Tourment sur les îles (Pacifiction).
