Zero Motivation (2014)

anglais I was hesitating for a long time to rate this movie. I kept saying to myself that I wasn’t impressed after watching it and that I am probably weird. The ratings on this website were quite clearly the opposite of what I thought about the film. And I was actually really looking forward to it. But then I came across user Enšpígl’s review and I was happy that I am not the only one here who does not love it. Zero Motivation is pretty topical movie. And also very relevant, when I think about what our pseudo-politicians agreed on. But that is the only thing worth noticing. The soldier babes didn’t show much, and I was bored and hoping it would get better the whole ninety minutes of the movie. It did not. Seen based on Challenge Tour 2015.

Confessions (2010)

anglais It was as if I were watching a filmed manga comic book. Kokuhaku is such a hyped, intense movie, that I couldn’t be anything else but tense. It is brutally effective, telling a story from some timeless space and jumping from one brutal situation into another. It is presenting to you the moments which happened and at the same time the moments which could happen. It is quite difficult to distinguish between reality and fiction here. Anyway, hats off for filming such a great revenge. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. Not only because I was getting lost in the timeline, but also because the actors were awesome, telling me a story the likes of which are rare to be found. Seen based on the Challenge Tour 2015.

Interview with a Hitman (2012)

anglais I was really looking forward to some B-rated film. Even though I didn’t even consider it as a B-movie originally. I have seen the reviews here and thought it could be something daring and interesting. And it is an interesting film. Its main advantage is the story. Thanks to it I lasted till the end. But I didn’t see much action, so I was sometimes horribly bored. Seen based on the Challenge Tour 2015.

Le Havre (2011)

anglais It took me a long time before I got used to Le Havre’s storytelling style. Kaurismäki combines Finnish people’s nature and French environment in a special way. Nobody is talking idly here, quite the opposite. The ending itself earned another star for this film, because I would expect such a beautiful, human and sincere ending perhaps only from a pure blooded French film. It is visible that the director took only the best from both and I was satisfied with the result. Seen based on the Challenge Tour 2015.

The Stag (2013)

anglais An absolutely excellent Irish comedy that perfectly and originally tells a story of one bachelor party. I tactically watched this film one day before attending my friend’s real life bachelor party. And I watched it mainly to know what can go wrong at such event. I have to admit I really liked the idea of organizing the party in an Irish countryside. The boys were crazy as they should be and The Machine delivered an ultimate bachelor party performance. The movie would actually be nothing without him. Seen based on Challenge Tour 2015.

Pioneer (2013)

anglais In the beginning, I felt like watching a retro movie from the 1970s. With hairy and bearded sailors. The filters they used remind me of the old James Bond movie ones and water, surrounding one oil rig, is everywhere. Well, a lot of conspiracy theories reflect into one quite important milestone of the movie, but they were not necessary, and I didn’t like them much. I expected far more from it. Seen based on Challenge Tour 2015.

John Doe: Vigilante (2014)

anglais There’s just something about this really rough premise. I’m surprised that it took this long for someone to come up with such an anti-superhero who, at the same time, is an ordinary person and who is sick and tired of the court decisions and rules of his country and so he decides to take things into his own hands. In a peculiar way, the movie tells the story of John Doe who became famous for murdering people who had – in his opinion – deserved it. Anyway, when they catch him and he tells this story through a news report, he’s no longer the only one and there are many more people like him all around the world who decided to take justice into their own hands. You just can’t keep waiting for justice forever. I watched this for the Challenge Tour 2015.

Tatort - Freunde (1986) (épisode)

anglais Since I’ve spent a good amount of time watching Horst Schimanski’s cases, I must say that Freunde is a truly well-done crime investigation movie that had absolutely everything that a good crime investigation should have. Most of all, it draws a lot of inspiration from the French era of Delon’s, Bebel’s or Lino Ventura’s reign. But it’s not important that this particular movie is similar to these French legends, it’s important that Horst Schimanski is still his good old self and that there’s an incredibly high-quality story as well. When it comes to this movie, it’d be a shame to describe the individual scenes like with the previous episodes. In any case, the moments when Schimi has a brutal fight with Tanner or when he sinks to the very bottom are flawless. The ending simply must convince anyone that this movie’s quality is on a whole different level.

Vivir es fácil con los ojos cerrados (2013)

anglais A pleasant story in a pleasant Spanish environment from the era of French rule. In this movie, the actress Natalia de Molina whom I hadn’t heard of before proved just how beautiful she can be, which was not only confirmed by the young dude, but also by the teacher. But my happiness faded a little bit after looking at a few Google images. However, she and the story had supported the overall message of the pleasant story that keeps on flowing nicely, even though when it ended, I felt like it wasn’t better than tree stars. I watched this for the Challenge Tour 2015.

Le Coucou (2002)

anglais The Cuckoo has an absolutely incredible story. It throws a Lapp woman, a Russian soldier and aFinnish soldier together. They all have to come to an agreement during the WWII and since the Lapp woman’s been living there alone for a couple of years now, she’s going to get something out of the two guys; especially sex. The whole movie is told in a beautiful and sincere way and makes you smile from the beginning till the very end. The ending then confirms the age-old phrase “nothing lasts forever” and so even a The Cuckoo’s chapter has to come to an end. I watched this for the Challenge Tour 2015.
