Tramontane (2016)

anglais The music in this film is imbued with an Eastern temperament and has a certain amount of urgency, as do the movements and actions of the protagonist as he searches for his origins across a land torn by eternal warfare. The slow-moving story has a certain tension that keeps the viewer alert and never bored. The final concert performance is extremely emotional. (75%)

Hair (1979)

anglais Hair is definitely one of the best movie musicals to ever see the light of day. I am still fascinated by the brilliant music and the story with its strong anti-war appeal, which even after many years since it was made can still appeal to the perceptive viewer. I'm really proud that Miloš Forman took on this classic and breathed life into it in the purest sense of the word. Like only he could...

Tanna (2015)

anglais A compelling story of one unfulfilled love, reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, filmed in the exotic setting of the volcanic island of Tanna, which captivates above all with its authenticity and breathtaking shots of the unspoiled nature there. The silhouettes of natives at the foot of the volcano spewing hot lava are not easily erased from my memory. Overall, it is a truly impressive audiovisual experience. I'll admit that the final quarter of an hour really moved me. (80%)

Submergence (2017)

anglais I was tempted by the big names as the director and protagonists, and I am amazed how this quite compelling premise of a quality spectacle hardly worked at all. The romantic storyline between Alicia Vikander and James McAvoy is quite captivating, but only when they are together. Once they physically split up, everything kind of goes downhill. An attempt at a deeper message permeates the film, but figuratively speaking, it doesn't get to the bottom of it. What's more, it doesn’t even come close. In the end, there is only one thing to do - to admire the beautiful locations where the filming took place. (45%)

El Chapo - Season 3 (2018) (saison)

anglais Either I've gotten used to it, or the third season is more entertaining than the previous two. The actor portraying El Chapo still seemed bad to me. Only when they shaved off his bushy hair in prison did he suddenly command respect, which is quite paradoxical. (70%)

Game Night (2018)

anglais Good American comedies are as rare as hen's teeth. This one may not be particularly funny, but it has that quirky vibe and, above all, it's as dynamic as can be. For its thrilling pace, a few memorable jokes, and a relatively original theme, Game Night definitely deserves four stars. (75%)

Erämaan lumo (2016) (série)

anglais Breathtaking shots of the beautiful Finnish landscape and its fauna in all seasons or literally fantastic views of the Northern Lights. All of this is complemented by captivating commentary from someone living in symbiosis with nature and underscored by almost meditative music. In its entirety, I consider it one of the most beautiful documentaries I've seen so far. I am so full of impressions that I would like to leave our uncivilized society right now and go to the far north for a solitary adventure, to enjoy a bit of harmony with the world.

Mia et le lion blanc (2018)

anglais A naive children's story? Perhaps, but it is also a beautiful tale of a determined girl and her friendship with a white lion that poignantly highlights the injustice perpetrated by human beasts on the majestic king of animals. It has always been my dream to visit wild Africa, so I really enjoyed this film, especially since there was no shortage of suspense and pleasant music. It's almost hard to believe that the filming was done with real white lions and not digital substitutes. It is an amazing three-year project based on the perfect coexistence of children and lions, which deserves admiration and must tug at the heartstrings of every nature-loving person. (80%)

Bella Mia (2013)

anglais The picturesque shots of the beautiful Czech landscape and Petr Forman with Igor Orozovič are the main reasons why I finished this film. On the other hand, Petr Rajchert and Zuzana Norisová give very irritating performances, if their acting can be called a performance at all. The story isn't entirely bad, but the whole thing seems a bit rushed and some shots of the cows come off as almost drastic. Perhaps for the moral appeal that occasionally emanates from the film, the uniqueness of the subject matter, and the decent musical accompaniment, I'll give it an extra star. (50%)

Pryatki (2019) (série)

anglais The atmosphere is thick enough to cut with a knife, but what's the use when the screenplay is one big mess, and throughout the series, there's hardly a single somewhat likable character with whom the viewer could identify. Not to mention the fact that the investigators get to the bottom of the case in no time. And don't even get me started on the unbelievable and emotionless behavior of the apprehended perpetrator when confronted with his kidnapped daughter. (45%)
