Bosch - Plan B (2020) (épisode)

anglais I'm starting to feel a glimmer of hope that the sixth season won't go down as one of the series' worst. I'm really digging the Hollywood division's storyline, though I'm a bit worried that Bosch might get a heart attack from all the stress. One case seems nearly closed, yet they're still putting in extra hours, investigating almost as a side hustle... I mean, that's a surefire way to develop a stomach ulcer, if not something worse. The creators are still keeping me entertained without showing any signs of strain; just the way I like it. / Lesson learned: When you need someone taken care of, best to leave it to the professionals. 4*+

Bosch - 48 Heures (2020) (épisode)

anglais Once again, I was pleased with how the investigation unfolded. It's a refreshing departure from the classic detective stories (though I do enjoy those too), where the detective lays out their mental processes and through sheer deduction, corners the culprit into a confession. Here, evidence is meticulously gathered, piece by piece, until it all forms an unbreakable whole... But then come the lawyers. / Lesson learned: Looking to become mayor? Get married. 4*+

Bosch - Diversion (2020) (épisode)

anglais With each new episode, the season keeps getting better and better. What initially seemed like another overly dramatic battle against terrorism has transformed into a classic Bosch storyline, especially from the third episode onwards – and the fourth one only solidified this for me. The case is unfolding just the way I like it, with Hieronymus Bosch once again relying fully on his police instincts. The atmosphere is hitting the mark too. Personally, I'd love to see more of Irvin Irving; that character really clicks with me. I wasn't bored for a second; this season kept me thoroughly entertained. Keep it up! / Lesson learned: Always follow the money trail.

Bosch - Sur le Bord de la route (2020) (épisode)

anglais I felt compelled to give this episode an extra star because I sensed more of Harry Bosch, which was lacking in the previous two episodes. It seems the creators are hitting their stride with this season so far and I'm having a great time watching. / Lesson learned: When collecting trash, just make sure it's not the radioactive kind.

Bosch - La Menace (2020) (épisode)

anglais The second episode didn't exactly blow me away. It offered decent entertainment but lacked that extra spark. The parallel investigations chug along, the tension between the power players persists, Irving's political aspirations are still in play, and there was even a brief (yet more realistic) shootout thrown in. However, I just couldn't find that 'something' here that would push me to bump up the rating. / Lesson learned: When the FBI offers you a seemingly fair deal, grit your teeth and bear it.

Bosch - À Genoux (2020) (épisode)

anglais While I hold Michael Connelly's books in higher regard than their TV adaptations, I won't deny that the series holds its own. The opening episode served as a solid introduction, setting the stage for a new case against a familiar backdrop. I can tell we're in for another dose of gripping police work intertwined with politics. It's clear the creators are sticking to what's been working for them. / Lesson learned: If you struggle with remembering important numbers, have them tattooed.

Chapelwaite (2021) (série)

anglais Once again, I saw the work of Stephen King transformed into a motion picture without me being rightfully angry or bored. I liked how the story was set in medieval America and stuck to all the main principles that are honored in the US to this day (feel free to break all the commandments, just make sure to go to church on Sunday). The writers skillfully handled the suspense from the beginning, creating a perfectly gloomy and tense atmosphere, and they did all they could to keep me entertained. There might have been some minor issues, but the ten episodes just raced by, I was far from bored, and the only thing that slightly disappointed me was the illogical conclusion. / Lesson learned: If you’re going to Maine, don't forget the repellent.

Chapelwaite - The Keeper (2021) (épisode)

anglais The finale didn't play out quite as I expected. While I knew the population count in those settlements wouldn't be high, I anticipated a more epic showdown. Instead, I was taken aback by the emotional conversations and decisions in the latter half of the episode. Normally, a focus on family values would irk me, but it was so well balanced with an almost incestuous resolution that I couldn't help but forgive the creators. Still, three burning questions linger: What did they feed the little one? What did the captain eat? Couldn't the sun accidentally shine into the boat on the open sea? If these queries had satisfactory answers, I'd bump the episode's rating up to a solid five stars. / Lesson learned: Never head off on vacation without a good book, especially if you're an avid reader.

Chapelwaite - The Gathering Dark (2021) (épisode)

anglais it's becoming clear now that we're headed towards the finale. While this episode felt like more of a setup for the ultimate showdown, it still had plenty to offer, keeping me far from bored, even by accident. I'm guessing New England earned its name from the weather, which probably reminded the early settlers of their original homes. The creators really nailed this gloomy vibe, making it a crucial element in the overall oppressive atmosphere that's been a hallmark of the series. Props to Stephen King for yet another nod to H. P. Lovecraft, whose works (among others) inspired King's horror stories.

Chapelwaite - Hold the Night (2021) (épisode)

anglais The eighth episode turned out to be a breath of fresh air after the last one. It was about time the plot got rolling. This time around, we got both physical and psychological conflict, a little something for everyone. I had no doubts about the weakest link in defense - it's the way Stephen King sees it, and honestly, I'm right there with him. It just fits perfectly into my worldview. The episode was packed with various types of killings, and the creators did a fantastic job building up the atmosphere and tension. / Lesson learned: When morale starts to crumble in battle, it's best not to delay a field trial.
