Forst - Episode 6 (2024) (épisode) Boo !

anglais Well, the series was headed towards this moment the whole time, so it’s only fitting that the grand, supposedly clarifying finale gets a Boo! rating from me. On the other hand, hats off to the confidence of the creators who believe so strongly in their skills and the quality of their work that they’re going to shoot another season. I'm not finding that kind of courage in myself, so the first season is also my last. Episode six was a total disaster and just confirmed all the issues I had with the series. / Lesson learned: It’s always worth waiting for a terminator showdown.

Forst - Episode 5 (2024) (épisode)

anglais Besides the stunning shots of the Tatra Mountains, the fifth episode finally gave me something to ponder. I found myself wondering who emplys more idiots - Polish police or the prosecutor's office? Based on this series, I'd guess it's about sixty-forty in favor of the police.

Forst - Episode 4 (2024) (épisode)

anglais The stunning Tatra mountain views are still the show's saving grace. I'm increasingly convinced that the writers might not pass a drug test. The plot, featuring a police Casanova investigating a case he was removed from while the police seem disinterested (because there aren’t even ten dead bodies, so why bother, right?), suggests a touch of hallucinogens at play. Seriously, this level of storytelling can’t be achieved while sober. / Lesson learned: When you need to fill the runtime, just throw in a sex scene. 1*

Forst - Episode 3 (2024) (épisode)

anglais It's hard to believe, but the series keeps getting worse. This time, the Polish creators attempted something like a Bond movie, and from my perspective, it didn't go well at all. An old and horny bad guy in a luxurious high-tech mansion/brothel on Lomnický štít? That's a first for me. Add in a washed-up but irresistible Polish cop and a truly ridiculous plot... The only saving grace here are the Tatra Mountains. P.S. The characters reminded me a lot of the ensemble from King’s Overlook Hotel. Lesson learned: Only visit Lomnický štít with a well-paid team of mercenaries. 1*-

Forst - Episode 2 (2024) (épisode)

anglais I'm still not impressed. I’ve noticed that Polish films generally do better with me, while their TV shows often fall short. I just can’t buy into the loose cannon in the police force, making the whole series feel unconvincing. / Lesson learned: If you take a trip to the Tatras, don’t lose your head.

Forst - Episode 1 (2024) (épisode)

anglais The creators didn't exactly impress me with this opening episode — it was pretty awful. The Tatra Mountains were nice, and the fog helped create a decent atmosphere, but that's where the positives ended for me. As a crime drama, it didn't work. I was baffled by the disregard for basic investigative procedures and chain of command. At times, I just stared blankly at the screen, trying to figure out why the creators made such poor choices. However, as a guide to the Tatras, it was somewhat enjoyable.

Les Couleurs du mal : Rouge (2024)

anglais Even I, a seasoned viewer, was taken aback by the level of brutality depicted. But hey, life isn't a fairy tale or a Marvel comic, right? If you hit someone with an axe or a blunt object, it's not going to be pretty. A sensitive soul might have serious issues with this film, but the reality is, as long as there are people who take pleasure in hurting others, we should get used to such scenes. The laws are pretty lenient towards such scum. I thoroughly enjoyed this gritty dive into Trójmiasto, although it left a little to be desired to earn those five stars.

Slow Horses - Season 3 (2023) (saison)

anglais Who would have thought the key to winning horse races is betting on the underdogs? I just finished the third season and, to my surprise, the creators still have plenty to offer. I wasn't bored for a second during any of the six episodes. Even though logic occasionally took a backseat, it didn't bother me much because it was incredibly entertaining. It had everything: romance, tension, action, drama, intrigue, and a fantastic atmosphere. Plus, the dry and black humor was spot on. Gary Oldman was the proverbial cherry on top. After finishing each season, I find myself wishing for more immediately. / Lesson learned: Well, it might not be the best takeaway, but after watching the last two episodes, I've learned that cocaine can turn even the slowest horse into a thoroughbred racehorse.

Slow Horses - Footprints (2023) (épisode)

anglais Episodes five and six have been the most thrilling yet. The death count was so dramatic it could revive even a struggling funeral service company. What I really appreciate is that the creators didn't just turn it into a blood-soaked action fest. Instead, the cold, concrete corridors drenched in blood were often warmed by a generous dose of intelligent, dark humor. A great finale. / Lesson learned: Flash drives have clearly won over CDs, but there are times in life when you might just regret it.

John Mulaney: Baby J (2023) (émission)

anglais I'd love to be able to say I had a great time, but John Mulaney didn’t quite win me over. The final segment with the GQ interview reading didn’t really hit the mark for me. I enjoyed the intervention part a lot more, but I can't say I was rolling on the floor laughing. To be fair, I don't think it's entirely Mulaney's fault — maybe I just wasn't in the best mood. / Lesson learned: I finally know how to make a quick buck, just need to find a Rolex store nearby!
