Au revoir, à jamais (1996)

anglais A heavy romp in the form of a slightly deranged mix of comedy, wild action, unbalanced effects and overkill from the 1990s. The attempt at a supercool action flick largely backfires due to a story pulled out of thin air and a lot of annoying clichés. What worked for Harlin in the focused and straightforward Cliffhanger and Geena Davis in the sprawling and fabulous Cutthroat Island doesn't come together here.

Marvel's Daredevil - Condamné (2015) (épisode)

anglais An episode full of rage, darkness and gunfire, or the cool attributes from the good comics we like so much. In addition, for the first time the clash of two anti-heroes turned out deliciously, with Vladimir coming out on top this time.

Accident Man (2018)

anglais A parody of John Wick's Assassin world with cunt buster Scott Adkins and the unknown Amy Johnston, whom we need to see in more action movies. Otherwise there is too much talking and the action itself is woefully poorly scored, and the sure bet in the form of Michael Jai White didn’t pay off this time. He looks bored and his, and almost all the other action passages look unfinished and sloppy.

Un jour de pluie à New York (2019)

anglais New York in a romantic vibe, milked to the max. Allen is a little weaker this time and too laconic in story creation, but typically lively and topical in dialogue, and some of the scenes are full of life's truths and paradoxes. By far the most interesting are the characters who appear on the scene only briefly but have an absolutely crucial impact on the development of the story (Diego Luna, Kelly Rohrbach). Woody doesn't pull as hard on the reins this time as in his other films, but it's still light and fun fare for a Saturday afternoon.

Marvel's Daredevil - Liens de sang (2015) (épisode)

anglais The first episode that is focused on the main villain. It's interesting how ambitiously Marvel approaches the material. The main nemesis is given a great deal of space, which allows the viewer to understand him better than usual. At the same time, it stylizes him into the role of a "normal person" made of flesh and bones and, above all, with emotions. That is, it makes up a kind of gap between good and evil. Impressive, carry on.

Marvel's Daredevil - L'Homme blessé (2015) (épisode)

anglais An interesting alternative to the series, which seems to have been turned into a sort of "mini-movie". We travel back in time to get to know the protagonist and his motivations better. The individual episodes may apparently have a time lapse between them, which is fine.

Marvel's Daredevil - Sur le ring (2015) (épisode)

anglais An appropriately dark opening, playing out a complex plot about the power and corruption of the big city with all the essential props for the material. There's a soft-spoken masked hero, a woman he protects, well-cast bad guys, lots of rain, dark camera filters and of course excellent action. The pursuit of "another dimension" and the dark confession of a hero torn at times between good and evil is a bit reminiscent of DC. We’ll see how it develops.

Avengement (2019)

anglais The most ambitious Adkins so far. European stylization with an irresistible central melody reminiscent European gangster and crime films with Belmondo from the 1960s and 70, and a direct homage to Morricone's "Chi Mai", all combined with typically gritty British humour and an overall concept that is strikingly reminiscent of the work of Guy Ritchie and his ilk. The action is decent for a low-budget film, properly gritty in places as only Adkins's form will allow. The flashback from prison and the final pub brawl are also good. One of the few films from the king of action B-movies that offers a bit more than just kicks and punches of all kinds.
