The Mandalorian - Chapitre 5 : Mercenaire (2019) (épisode)
A fan-fest for all SW geeks. Tatooine, a dusty spacecraft workshop, lots of desert, gliders and of course some action. Not much in terms of filmmaking, but fans will surely give it one more star.
The Mandalorian - Chapitre 4 : Le sanctuaire (2019) (épisode)
Kind of a relaxing rural episode. An interesting new world and a “Star-Wars” fight with a robot. Otherwise, a bit cliché including the predictable twist.
The Mandalorian - Chapitre 3 : Le péché (2019) (épisode)
A lot of action that is overall averagely executed. But you can't deny verve and the special sympathy for the protagonist, who has his own specific methods and ideology.
The Mandalorian - Chapitre 2 : L'enfant (2019) (épisode)
An episode filled with gadgets and monsters, a bit evoking the battle arena from Star Wars Episode 2, only in a more refined and darker design with less colours. Unfortunately, though, this side mission doesn’t add any dimension to the story.
The Mandalorian - Chapitre 1 : Le Mandalorien (2019) (épisode)
An emotionally and aesthetically good throwback to the most entertaining and playful Star Wars era at the turn of the new millennium. A bit stumbling in emotions, but maybe it's just a flaw of the start, when there is no time while introducing the main characters.
Vikings - Le Meilleur des stratagèmes (2020) (épisode)
The creators obviously want to explain a lot in the next ten episodes, because this narrative mess will hardly satisfy the fans of the series. Instead of a bloody carnage, we have a chronologically scattered almost battle again, where it's not clear whether it's the real deal or just someone's imagination. Thus, surrealistic dreamlike images collide with interesting panoramas like in Troy, but on the ground they lack both verve and better editing.
Vikings - Résurrection (2020) (épisode)
Forty minutes to wait for the final five, which kind of hints at the way the second half of the sixth season is likely to go, which, with the exception of one episode, is actually quite boring.
Vikings - Le Valhalla peut attendre (2020) (épisode)
Apart from Bjorn's rage and one blatant infidelity, this episode is actually pretty pointless. Like one of many. Moreover, the group is splitting up quite incomprehensibly. Basically, we're just waiting for Russia to show up.
Vikings - La Guerrière des glaces (2020) (épisode)
A tribute piece to one of the best TV characters of all time. Well deserved, but perhaps too long and overly poetic.
Vikings - La Mort et le serpent (2020) (épisode)
A clear return to the roots. It's as if the Vikings from season three came flying in. Although the finale is a bit predictable, it's still emotionally powerful and the concept fits together just fine. An excellent duel between Lagertha and a bandit and of course the vote for the King of Norway. Thoroughbred, thrilling and probably the best episode of the last series in a long time. If they cut it down to ten episodes, with every other as good as this one, fans would cheer.
