Les Simpson

Les Simpson (1989)

Growing up, hardly a day went by when I didn't see a bald Homer on TV with a remote in one hand and a can of beer in the other, a patient and caring Marge who didn't actually have blue hair, a mischievous Bart making fake phone calls to Moe, an intellectual Lisa refusing meat and any breaking of the rules, or little Maggie who was already so skilled with a gun. And there hasn't been a day that hasn't gone by when this yellow crew hasn't lifted my spirits and provided me with 20 minutes of the best and most effective humour that I would gladly lay down my life for. I love the humor, I love silly Homer, I love greedy Burns, I love Springfield, I love The Simpsons... Yeah, and I almost forgot: D'OH!!

Rick et Morty

Rick et Morty (2013)

If there's ever a more entertaining piece of TV than Rick and Morty, it will be a sign of the end of the world. It has a few weaker episodes, but the ingenuity of the plots and the development of the fictional world knows no bounds, and I am literally amazed at how smartly the various motifs build on each other across episodes and seasons. And not only Rick Sanchez kills me with every other quip or life attitude, but all the other characters are outrageously good and the creators don't have to worry about splitting the episodes into multiple parallel storylines. The properly inaccessible nature of the humour sets the crown, as do the pop culture references and brilliantly coded observations on contemporary politics and society. The creators of this deserve a monument.

Frères d’armes

Frères d’armes (2001)

A true masterpiece that describes with great veracity and naturalism every aspect of the lives of "brothers in arms" in the face of their enemies. The battle scenes are without exception visually and aurally breathtaking, while all the scenes where the rifles remain lowered are absolutely stunning in their emotional authenticity and their naturalness, which is downright chilling. I have always shuddered at the thought of war, how I would die a painful death amidst the filth and blood; after watching this series, I fear I will survive it in physical, but not mental health. This is the true face of war. 100%

Sur la terre des dinosaures

Sur la terre des dinosaures (1999)

As a kid I used to watch it on VHS over and over again, but my admiration for the series grew even stronger as I got older. Definitely the most epic journey into prehistoric times that we have seen on TV so far, supported by flawless animation, authentic locations, great music and a beautiful storyline that is far more engaging than just a flood of information and facts. If there is one truly perfect documentary, this is the one.

Mr Bean

Mr Bean (1990)

A series that is simply destined for a full rating. Atkinson has been gifted with a comedic talent that it would be a sin not to use.
