Ziegfeld Follies (1945)

anglais Some of the scenes are delightful in their visual execution, some are delightful as musical numbers, others are quite amusing and actually make you laugh, and others you can easily forget because they don't provide much at all. The whole thing is pretty playful and you probably won't get overly bored watching it, maybe only in the credits between each musical number.

Ze soboty na neděli (1931)

anglais Old films are simply worth it and it's worth taking the time to try to discover them and watch them. From Saturday to Sunday is an unassuming film, it's not an unnecessarily awkward romance, but it's all the more captivating and, most importantly, it's overall very pleasantly acted and filmed. I like these types of old films.

Zamatoví teroristi (2013)

anglais After the first story, I wondered if it was even worth watching the film, but the next two stories were more interesting and showed that communism was involved in some really strange fates. Particularly the final Vladimír is a very specific personality. This is worth watching for the strange sad bizarreness of human fates.

Le Jardin (1995)

anglais I had assumed that poetic films weren't exactly something I admire, but I enjoyed this Slovak rendition with the excellent Luknár and Labuda. And also because Jana Švandová shows herself in all her glory. Yet the scenes in the garden are much more interesting, where beautifully strange things happen.

La Terre outragée (2011)

anglais Some human destinies are interesting and are therefore worth making a film about. But sometimes the presentation is such that it doesn't really do much. I think that's the problem with Land of Oblivion. It failed to impress me, even though it's not badly acted at all and it's dramatic. Yet it still seemed a little ordinary to me.

Wood Job! (2014)

anglais If you like Japanese people and their quirks, which are sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller, you will enjoy the movie "Wood Job!". Just the idea of making a film about foresters as a sometimes very crazy, but still quite serious comedy, is interesting, but some scenes will simply amaze you.

Le Jardin (1968)

anglais Jan Švankmajer does what he does really well. He made a film that is more of a parable, a film that has a plot and most importantly a great atmosphere that at times seems literally horrific because you don't know what might come and what else will happen. This is a brilliantly acted and directed short film that deserves to be remembered.

affiche

De leurs propres ailes (2012)

anglais The film has a good cast, with the actors simply not disappointing, whether it's Maggie Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis or Holly Hunter. Yet the story is so terribly optimistic that I found it a bit annoying at times, even though it's based on a true story. But I suppose that sometimes we need something more positive and good.

Winx Club: Il mistero degli abissi (2014)

anglais I really don't know what's supposed to be interesting about these characters. It's primarily aimed at girls, which I am not, but I didn't like the animation, and there's not much you can salvage from that with cheerful colors. The story is simple, a classic struggle between good and evil, with no surprising or unexpected denouement.

Wilson (1944)

anglais While it might have actually been pretty good for its time, I feel like this film has aged a lot and doesn't have the same feel it had back then. I found the acting too theatrical and the film too pathetic, and ultimately too long-winded considering that I didn't find the personality of President Woodrow Wilson very engaging.
