Un été 42 (1971)

anglais A beautiful romance that is built almost on poetic cinematography and the slow pace of the plot, on pleasant music that is strongly melancholic, and on acting performances that are just adequate enough to make everything believable. Tet the film doesn't try to blackmail you or force you into an awkward ending. It was beautifully shot.

Stronger (2017)

anglais A story written by life itself. Unfortunately, the film version is no better or worse, and it's a pretty decent endeavor, and the only thing that stands out is Jake Gyllenhaal and his take on the character, whom he makes believable. I have to admit that, at least in this version, I don't envy Jeff his family, and at times you don't know if anyone is even capable of empathizing with him.

affiche

Stone Cold Dead (1979)

anglais Stone Cold Dead has a nice 70s feel, where on the one hand you get the feeling that the filmmakers wanted to take inspiration from Italian giallo, but at the same time, they didn't want to go too far. The film is only slightly gritty and has some light nudity, but unfortunately, the main story is not as mysterious and good as it wants to be.

Příběh gangstera: Pat Tate (2017)

anglais It may be the third film in the series, but it's actually the film that precedes the first one. It's not about anything other than showing how the evil bastards are living well, how they fuck, take drugs and beat people up, or even kill them. At least until everything goes to shit, which only happens in the finale. I don't consider the film better than average.

Ooru naito rongu 3: Saishuu-shô (1996)

anglais I don't think it's as good as the previous two films, although what the main character shows us while he's still a collector and not yet a killer is definitely interesting, at least in terms of its perversion. Gradually, it builds into boredom, which is due to the killing and abuse, which then only seemed ordinary to me.

affiche

Cap sur les étoiles (1986)

anglais It started out as a great experience where kids got to be a part of NASA's space program, where they got to see the places where astronauts train and become astronauts themselves. Then, suddenly, a rocket gets them into space and they have to show their skills for real. The execution is very naive, but the plot is pretty crazy.

affiche

Wolves at the Door (2016)

anglais Wolves at the Door shows a tragic event that only reveals how easily people can become fanatical and what they are capable of in such a moment. Fanaticism is one of the most dangerous human behaviors, and it doesn't matter whether it is an individual or a larger group that becomes fanatical. The consequences tend to be tragic, varying in quantity. However, this is not something that Wolves at the Door develops in any significant way.

affiche

Singularity (2017)

anglais I really don't like cheap sci-fi because it's too obvious how intimate it is and how it doesn't fit the subject matter. This is a film where basically the extermination of humanity occurs and takes place in a forest and a castle, whereas what should literally be a blossoming here is technology, and what is shown here in a few shots is simply not enough.

affiche

L'Homme de main (2015)

anglais It’s pretty good, although I feel like the films in this series are unnecessarily long, mostly because they take themselves too seriously and feel like they actually have a story to tell and that what they're telling is actually a good, expansive saga. I don't think it's all that great, but still, Rise of the Footsoldier is at least average.

affiche

American Satan (2017)

anglais American Satan is unnecessarily stretched, which is too bad, because if it were just a little shorter, it would be a little better, a little more bearable. It's got horror elements, it's decently decadent in places, and there's some pretty good hard music in it. For how independent the film looks, it's a good one.
