Même les souris vont au paradis (2021)

anglais I don’t like this kind of animation, I find it creepy and not very nice. The story is interesting, but I don’t think kids will understand it, and for adults it’s mediocre. It is world class, no doubt about it, Wes Anderson used recently a similarly ugly style of animation. The best thing was the music.

John Wick : Chapitre 4 (2023)

anglais Nearly ten years of Wick's revenge for his killed dog and destroyed car have flown by. The huge mythology revolving around the rules and the code of assassins slowly swells, but as glue for fantastic action scenes it is enough. As a result, Keanu Reeves will not be remembered as Neo, but as the "loving husband" of John Wick. The climactic sequences at the Arc de Triomphe and the Osaka Massacre will one day be in the textbooks. The scenes with my favourite nunchucks really put a smile on my face. Donnie Yen relishes Cain to the full, and Reddick's last scene in the film gives me chills. Awesome.

Un talent en or massif (2022)

anglais Or when your better half wants to watch a film because of a Facebook menu. Excellent meta silliness, finally a role tailor-made for Nicolas Cage and incredible fun on top of that. The genre progression from human drama to action comedy is quite unexpected, but it works – the film has a bit of everything. Pedro Pascal is excellent and, as Cage's number one fan, totally believable even in the most absurd situations. The line with the daughter hits the right nerve. Will the little one like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari as much as I do?

L'Éveil (1990)

anglais A strong story and top-notch performances, especially Robert De Niro, who gave me chills at times. The awakening of catatonic patients is incredible and shows the effect of chemicals on the human brain in all its nakedness. Zaillian's script does not forget the necessary digressions, the revolutionaries and the romantic subplot that makes the whole story a little more bearable. A brilliant and restrained Robin Williams and a fantastic small role of Peter Stormare. “You talking to me.

Donjons & Dragons : L'honneur des voleurs (2023)

anglais Excellent stuff! The jokes, the visual effects, the twists, everything works to perfection. The smart script and the pinpoint direction of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are supported by great performances. The perfect chemistry of the protagonists, comparable to Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, pulls the whole film forward. Chris Pine is great, he truly enjoys his role as a Harper, and in the strongly dramatic sequences he doesn’t leave a single eye dry. Michelle Rodriguez as the female version Conan the Barbarian is having an incredible career comeback. The heists, the exploration, the rescues and the fights are executed with incredible wit and inventiveness. Balfe's music is top-notch. This is something you can count with almost any time, and I am already looking forward to watching it again.

Des hommes d'honneur (1992)

anglais Funny story: I needed to keep my daughter bored until she fell asleep in front of the TV and tried this classic courtroom drama I'd been saving for a long time and hit the jackpot. In both ways. A perfect Nicholson and an energetic Cruise, who in his younger days rolled in dialogue as much as he does now when he jumps out of planes and off cliffs on his motorcycle. A first-rate drama, with terrific Sorkin dialogue, that spawned many followers from JAG to NCIS.

Sand Castle (2017)

anglais Another useless effort in the desert where trying to help equals only more deaths. The action doesn't particularly stand out, the catchphrases are few, and the theme of repairing water pipes isn't exactly substantial, albeit very realistic. I had a big problem with Hoult's final epiphany, it felt out of place, and overall knocks Sand Castle down a lot. PS: Excellent role for Henry "spray my dog" Cavill. “I hope you get shot and fucking die. Don’t translate that!

La Théorie du Chaos (2008)

anglais An excellent relationship drama with a brilliant Reynolds. The wife's little prank starts a series of brutal misadventures, unexpected twists and revelations in such a natural way that it is almost hard to believe. Plans are useless, you can't prepare for anything and you have to doubt everything and prepare for what you never dreamed of.

Dragons Forever (1988)

anglais The fights are fantastic, though not as playful as in Jackie's later works, but they are all the more brutal. The romantic lawyer line feels like a parody of a bodice ripper, and its connection to the cocaine factory case is very bizarre, it seems to have been written very hastily so that the guys could fight again.

Agents presque Secrets (2016)

anglais The excellent The Rock, who enjoys the role immensely (I felt he was heavily inspired by Kody from Step by Step for the role of Bob Stone) pulls the whole film up. The tale of a high school star who has fizzled out and a bullied obese kid who has become a hunky ace picks up steam when national security becomes an issue. Hart is surprisingly bearable, the action is fine and the quirky humour worked on me unexpectedly often. “You look like a black Will Smith, or something!
