Reckless Ranger

Ranger Bob Allen gets involved in a range war when his twin brother Jim is lynched by unknown raiders. With the help of Jim's widow Mary and young son Jimmie, Bob assumes Jim's identity to investigate the murder. He joins forces with Jim's friend, Chet Newton, and quickly arrests two of the men who killed Jim. When Bob appears in town pretending to be Jim, Barlowe, the cattleman who hired the gang to intimidate the sheep ranchers and kill Jim, thinks he has been double-crossed. While Bob and Chet are in town, Chet's sister Mildred learns that the men Bob arrested have escaped and that they know Bob is a Ranger. She leaves a note warning Chet and heads for the Allen ranch with Jimmie. On the road, she and Jimmie are captured by Barlowe's men, but Chet finds her note and follows her, while Bob heads for Barlowe's ranch. Jimmie manages to escape and is hotly pursued by Barlowe's henchman, Snager, but Bob intercedes, saves Jimmie, and sends him to find Chet and round up the other sheepmen. Bob reaches the Barlowe ranch alone, and after a violent fight with Barlowe, Bob chases him across the range, followed by Barlowe's gang. During a final shootout, Bob kills Barlowe. The sheepmen then successfully fight off the gang, and Mildred arrives safely. (Columbia Pictures US)
