The life of the film's protagonist, which belongs to the canon of films of moral anxiety, suddenly changes after he begins to investigate why some of his classmates did not return to university. He soon finds himself in their position, but this is only the beginning of his other problems. Index was sentenced to four years in the vault for its sharp critique of conformism. A wild camera capturing an utterly luxurious selfish scumbag in scenes that seemed to be missing the two or three other scenes in between might have been a debilitating experience for some. Which is simply the Czech problem of the anti-communist sentiment we have stuck in our minds with the image of a brooding Havel with a heart in the corner. This immediate and aggressive disgust of ugly bald men over the regime is something we don't like, because we don't like the idea of such an asshole standing on the same side of the barricade with us. And maybe that's good old moral unease.
