anglais For a film made on the 30th anniversary of the Prague Uprising, there is remarkably little ideology in it. Of course, the protagonist is a communist and everything ends with the arrival of Soviet tanks, but not much is said about it, no atrocities happen, the script is relatively fair in that the radio is broadcasting Prague's cry for help in Russian and English and only Czechoslovak flags are flying everywhere - the only red flags are the railway signal flags. In addition, Weapons for Prague is filmed above average - the filmmakers didn't use special effects and for example the collision of a German armored car with a regular coal truck is amazing and the shootouts have some juice (although Ivo Toman is of course no Jiří Sequens). If it could have done without a few naive, funny or even ridiculous moments, I would have added a fourth star. ()
