Tibor and Niki, father and daughter. The young girl was only five years old when they last saw each other, before Tibor was sent to prison. He is released seven years later and tries not to think about the past. Yet he can’t erase his daughter from his life and so they are compelled to start over from the beginning. Both are irresistibly charismatic, headstrong and irascible, but also determined to find a way back to one another. (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)

After all, there's not much new to invent and where on earth can you find themes that haven't yet been made into films. The most powerful stories are usually written by life itself. Talented Hungarian director Hajni Kis found inspiration in her own childhood. Her debut feature film, Wild Roots, is very well directed, shot and narrated, and is dominated by the excellent performances of the central figures of Gusztáv Dietz and Zorka Horváth. And the soundtrack, which almost perfectly captures the atmosphere of the environment in which the story takes place, must not be overlooked. (80%) ()
