The Wedding

Tom, Jacob Aasland's son, studies biochemistry. He is working on his post-graduate thesis with Samira, an Iraqi girl. Samira and her older brother Ohmar are both friends of Tom. They have grown up in Norway and are well-integrated into Norwegian society. Their parents, however, take it for granted that their children follow Iraqi traditions. Samira is well aware of this, but when her relationship with Tom develops into something more than friendship, both - she and Ohmar - experience the problems many second-generation immigrants encounter. They are confronted with extremely difficult choices with severe personal consequences for the entire family. (Norsk Filminstitutt)
