On 8 December 1982, by order of the military regime of Surinam led by Desi Bouterse, fifteen people were executed without any form of justice. They were all critics of the government, people voicing their opinions for freedom and democracy, including union representatives, military men, journalists and lawyers. For the country and its population, the bloodbath was a traumatic event, which would go down in history as ‘the December killings’. Now, after so many years, the culprits have still not been called to account and this crime is still an actuality within the Surinam community. In this film, the wives, parents, brothers, sisters and children of the victims talk about the period preceding that day and about the consequences the events had on their lives.
