Rita Tushingham stars in this Hammer thriller as Brenda, a young Liverpool lass who goes to London in search of the perfect man and a better life. Unfortunately, the seamy underside of London grabs hold of her when she falls for a handsome but psychotic young man named Peter (Briant). This is just a strange film, but it has an incredible musical component that accompanies it throughout the entire runtime, interspersed with silence. The cuts are incredible as if they further disrupt the coherence of the whole. And it works, in the sense that it's really weird. You just don't see such unpleasant and strange characters very often. As an experience, it's definitely worth watching.
