Suchan Kinoshita is a Dutch artist with a German/Japanese background. She is fascinated by not-understanding something, letting go of expectations, loving misunderstanding. Japan has the concept that the essence of something reveals itself through an action. Filmmaker and artist make this film, or rather, make ’15 attempts’, with this attitude. During these humorous ventures, the filmmaker becomes part of the exploration of her main character, because ‘concrete poetry is that which is close to you.’ Each attempt gets closer to the core of Kinoshita’s work: that the confusion these attempts lead to allows room for a surprising view on existence.
