Without a doubt, Luciano Berio is one of the most popular modern musicians. As composer and performer he has gathered an enthusiastic, faithful and highly varied host of supporters. His popularity is closely connected with his personality. He is curious and eclectic, has many interests, and combines an almost natural creativity with a serious examination of all aspects of music and its technique. His music is deeply rooted in his native country Italy, and comprises a wide range of genres: traditional music, folk, exotic music, jazz, and the whole classical repertoire. The film was shot in Berio's favourite regions of Italy: Tuscany and the Ligurian coast. It also includes fragments from the well-received TV-series Berio made in 1972 as an introduction to modern music, C'e Musica e Musica, and several of his compositions.
