Until 1973, the American Psychiatric Association listed homosexuality as a diagnosis. Changing this view was preceded by years of efforts of the potential patients to convince the doctors they were perfectly healthy. Psychotherapy, electric shocks, even lobotomy were among the methods applied for diagnosis labeled 302.0, but millions of Americans were not cured until the day of its delisting. Besides the portraits of the most important activists, who made the international scientific community reconsider their basis, the film examines how scientific the criteria used for decades to determine health and diagnoses needing treatment really were. The medical opinion shaped both the public view and government legislation. (Academia Film Olomouc)
