Hynek Bočan pieced together a feature film out of a twelve-part television series based on the novel by Jiří Stránský. The plot outlines events in a Sudeten village just after World War Two, expanding on explosive Czech-German relations and the growth of political pressure after the Communists come to power in February 1948.
