Sergio Oksman's documentary On Football is the portrait of a relationship between a father and a son who haven't spoken for 20 years. Oksman decides to travel to Brazil during the world cup in order to meet his father Simão. The film manages to show the absurdity in the loss of communication. It is both melancholy and harsh, anti-nostalgic yet humane and warm. During the screening at the Seville film festival, the audience could clearly hear the fans of FC Sevilla cheering as they celebrated a win against Real Madrid, as the game was played just a few feet from the cinema. The director – who does explore some parallels between fiction and reality in the film – received numerous compliments for the sound engineering from unknowing moviegoers. (Göteborg Film Festival)
