Hellaro

The Gujarati film Hellaro takes place in the 1970s in a remote village of the Kutch desert. Here, local women live in an absolute subordinate position to their men, who deny them one of their main pleasures: dancing, and more specifically dancing a traditional dance said to bring rain. But their desire for freedom is enhanced after the encounter of a wandering drummer. The film with a strong feminist charge won the Best Feature Film award at the National Film Awards 2019.
