A grand film in which Bertolluci capitalised on his experience with big budget costume dramas of the previous years (e.g. The Last Emperor). A tedious but beautiful film. Keanu Reeves is convincing as the emaciated Siddhartha, thanks in part to his exotic appearance. This is a film for those who don't mind a more long-winded narrative, for people with an open mind. ()
