Siegfried A. Fruhauf has been described as a “master of the wave”. If he pulverizes things (objects, movements, landscapes, vistas of vision) down to their smallest components, it is so he can reconstitute them into numerous possible worlds, using the energy waves of image-sound fusion. The film title declares its given elements: a bucket is conveyed to a spot where it is filled and later emptied; and there are views of a field. Then the real film-work begins: intercutting frame by frame, a full sound design, rapid flashing between colour and high-contrast black-and-white. An audiovisual study that reformulates our powers of perception. (Viennale)
