The action thriller describes the events of the largest prison riot in the history of Czechoslovakia, which broke out in March 1990 in Leopoldov and was ended by an intervention of armoured personnel carriers. Above all, however, it follows fictitious events across various social strata that supposedly preceded the uprising. (Summer Film School)

anglais A very important film on the subject of velvet. I already quite like Karásek's previous project Candidate. Or rather, the memory of it is better in hindsight than the first critical encounter. Amnesty is bold, brash, and smart. The individual characters are very expressive and seem to be copied from life, though not entirely. The atmosphere is very authentic, and the conditions in Bratislava television are priceless. Geislerová is outdoing herself - she's been playing the most mature of roles for 10 years now, and slowly but surely, she's no longer afraid to add outwardly degrading props. Vašut was a surprise for me, and Natalia Germani is by far the biggest surprise from the Slovak actors. ()

anglais The thriller Amnesty is riddled through and through with characters that are hard to sympathize with. Worthy of recognition, however, is that it depicts the often mythologized period around the Velvet Revolution without any embellishments. I can't fault the acting at all, and the riveting shots of the prison riot in Leopoldov are surely one of the coolest scenes in the history of Czechia and Slovakia. (85%) ()
