The pilot episode left me with mixed feelings. At times, it seemed like the creators were trying a bit too hard, cramming in plot elements that felt a bit tired and overdone. While the sheriff isn't grappling with divorce and custody battles, they substituted in alcohol, spawning the first of many clichés. You can bet there'll be trouble brewing over the refinery/incinerator/power plant/factory/mine (take your pick), likely revolving around economic interests. I'm just hoping we won't also have to endure a Greenpeace subplot because of Anna. Still, I have to give a shoutout to Christina Hendricks for her standout performance.
