Director Václav Křístek's fairy tale presenting the story of philanthropic Emperor Maxmilián. He goes out to live among simple folk dressed as an ordinary groom, and meets up with a former drummer who is in love with the daughter of the local knacker. A crafty administrator makes a false accusation and the two friends are threatened with a bit of injustice: they are about to be executed. But this is a fairy tale and, of course, it all comes out right in the end. (texte officiel du distributeur)

anglais This film, at the time of its creation, passed through distribution without much attention, and it is characteristic that out of nearly two hundred ratings, no one deemed it worthy of a few lines of commentary to this day. The main problem is mediocrity and inconspicuousness of the film. And this in turn stems from an average underdeveloped screenplay. It is not a downright bad film, the protagonist does not lack charisma even in this film, but it is simply a one-time watch, from which you won't recall anything the next day. Overall impression: 50% - mainly thanks to well-composed music with baroque motifs. ()
