Par un bel après-midi d'été, au bord d'un lac, Cora Bender est prise d'un accès de violence et poignarde un homme à mort. Pourquoi ? Qu'est-ce qui a poussé cette jeune mère réservée à poignarder un parfait inconnu au niveau de la gorge, encore et encore, tout cela sous le regard pétrifié de sa famille et de ses amis ? Cora avoue immédiatement le crime et le dossier semble clos, mais le commissaire de police refuse de stopper l'enquête. While the pace of the second episode felt a bit slower to me, I didn't mind it much because I was still hooked on the storyline.

I'm starting to get a bit annoyed with Jamie's daydreaming. It feels like his constant musings are starting to hinder the plot, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that things will pick up.

Well, here we are, the situation hasn't improved. My back is aching from all the grave-digging, so you'd think a bit of city fun would be a welcome change. Turns out, it didn't really do much for the story, and I found myself a bit bored at times. If the series keeps going like this, I won't be thrilled.

Descente aux enfers (2020) (S03E05)
The series I once thoroughly enjoyed is morphing into something in its third season that I'm almost dreading to watch now. The creators seem to have opted for stretching out the plot with a rather oddly conducted police investigation. If there's any investigation happening at all, because frankly, I'm starting to have doubts.

Pacte avec le diable (2020) (S03E06)
I find myself at odds with the majority opinion; the episode had a more intriguing progression than the previous two, and I was leaning towards giving it a higher rating. However, the ending ruined everything. Literally. Like his superior, I also feel that Harry Ambrose should retire before progressive dementia completely overwhelms him. But to balance out the criticism, Bill Pullman's performance remains fantastic (the issue lies more in the script).

Eveil (2020) (S03E07)
The eighth episode was slightly better than the previous two disappointing ones. It wasn't as bad as I'd feared, but it also didn't particularly please me, considering it had to follow the shortcomings of the previous episodes. Only three more to go.

L'Affrontement (2020) (S03E08)
The creative team really went "all out" in the finale, creating a chaotic mess where logic was tossed aside from start to finish, with every wild idea the screenwriter could conjure up thrown in randomly. It's quite a contrast to how much I enjoyed the first season, and it leaves me feeling a bit sad. This series didn't deserve such a downfall.
