Strawberry Days

Un film qui me plaît pour la mise en perspective entre l’hypocrisie et la suffisance des Suédois, d’une part, et la mesquinerie et l’ingratitude des Polonais, de l’autre. Une variation de plus sur les amours interdites, qui est bien écrite et bien jouée. Un film aussi agréable que modeste, plutôt destiné aux cinéphiles avertis. (16/07/2018)

I am not at all surprised the Swedes took this topic because their movies often have a hint of self critique in them. It is very interesting to observe the behavior of the Swedes and the Poles from the very beginning of this film. All of them make many mistakes so you won’t be surprised by the consequences of their actions in the end of the movie. The bad thing is that I don’t even know whether they learned their lesson or not. I believe it’s not the question of your nation but of the environment. However, you can clearly see how the Swedes see themselves as a superior nation, unlike the Poles. It is difficult to like the Poles though, because half of their extras look like soccer hooligans. Well, I’ve always liked these nation comparisons in the films. (28/12/2017)
