Set in a sanatorium in 1947, the movie takes as its topic the last days of a young man afflicted with tuberculosis who tries to overcome an inevitable end. By means of his amazing life force and optimistic attitude he succeeds in resisting his illness to the last and, indeed, helps others forget their tragic circumstances.
