This two-part historical epic, an accurate adaptation of the middle part of Sienkiewicz's magnificent trilogy, takes place in the 17th century and maps the period when disintegrated Poland was flooded by the Swedes led by King Karl Gustav. On the backdrop of these events, unfolds the story of nobleman Andrzej Kmicic, who redeems his earlier betrayal of his nation through fearlessness and courage. (Summer Film School)
