Le soir, il noie son amertume au pub du village et multiplie les aventures sexuelles sans lendemain. anglais God’s Own Country is in some moments very reminiscent of Brokeback Mountain, as it also features two seemingly different men who take care of (not only) sheep, fall in love. But they have to face the fact that they are in the countryside, far from civilization, where they look down on anyone who is even slightly different. The film stands out for the grounded performances of both the leads and the supporting cast, who admittedly don't say much, but that only adds to the overall intimacy and raw atmosphere. I was intrigued by the fact that the film doesn't deal purely with gay issues, but also addresses the issue of ethnic minorities and the theme of family. The film has a slower and longer build up, so I was thinking about three stars, but then the plot twist happens, and the ending was absolutely brilliantly delivered and acted. ()

anglais A sensitive yet powerfully realistic film about life in the countryside. There are scenes you won't likely see anywhere else, and the work with the animals is really well done. The erotic scenes, of which there are quite a few, are similarly well shot. The love between the young men is very intense and very believable. ()
