anglais Exactly as the user Enšpígl stated here – the movie stands and falls by Sidney. The main asset of the movie which comes from Sidney’s mysterious reclusiveness in the present is drowned by a parallel story of his past which describes why he actually became a loner. I was quite at a loss after finishing the movie. I don’t know if I managed to find something in the thoughts the movie offered which would draw me into the story more. ()

anglais This is a somewhat lengthy story about how Sidney Hall got lost and the search for him. A young, up-and-coming and very talented author, with some personal issues thrown in, the story almost writes itself, and truthfully it's not as great as it wants to be. I got a little tired of watching some of the characters after a while. ()

anglais I don't know exactly why, but I have a soft spot for Logan Lerman. Either he's lucky like few people in Hollywood or he's carefully choosing what he's going to be in. It's probably a combination of both, plus a certain amount of acting talent, as the films he appears in almost always catch my eye. The role of Sidney Hall, a painfully searching young man, suited him perfectly. He and Elle Fanning stole this movie for themselves, which I didn't mind one bit. I have reservations only about the sometimes too-rapid change of time planes, as sometimes, I really didn't know which one I was watching. However, perhaps it's thanks to that that I truly saw through things almost at the end of the whole story, and for that, I am infinitely grateful to the creators. (80%) ()

anglais The most sincere, genuine and best search for oneself in an extremely long time. The colouring in the form of a slightly melodramatic/romantic touch suits it extremely well, much more so than drugs and alcohol, which are usually used by filmmakers on their wanderings through the unknown in similarly themed films. Excellent work by the screenwriter and editor in mixing multiple time planes and skipping around in the storytelling. A gem that you have to be in the right mood for and take it at the right time, but when it succeeds, it hits the mark. ()
