Nathan, 16 ans, vit seul avec son père Stéphane. Nouveau venu au lycée, il est invité à une soirée. Il tombe alors sous le charme de Louis, un garçon de de sa classe. Celui-ci, en couple avec Laura, n'assume pas son attirance pour Nathan. Ils se retrouvent néanmoins à l'abri des regards et s'embrassent. Laura les surprend et les photographie. La photo est vite publiée sur Internet. L'effet boule de neige est immédiat. Stéphane découvre l'homosexualité de son fils Nathan. Il refuse dans un premier temps de lui parler. Si Nathan ne cherche pas à cacher ses sentiments, Louis pour sa part, nie son homosexualité. Il va même jusqu'à participer aux brimades et aux violences infligées à son ami... Hidden Kisses depicts several topical themes that relate to family, partner and student relationships – thus having quite a broad scope. More than once during the screening, I told myself how completely out of touch with reality some of the characters are, while also being totally on the money. School can be really mean and dangerous and can leave deep physical as well as psychological scars on a person. The film presents in a believable way the situation of two boys who, because of the narrow-mindedness of their surroundings, have become targets of violence, insults and rejection. Personally, I was most impressed by the scenes of the math teacher’s speech and the mother's awakening. A modest, yet hard-hitting TV movie!
