Initially, Solveig Karlsdottir had planned for a few days of relaxation in a small fishing village on the western coast of Iceland. The successful author of crime novels, who now lives in the capital of Reykjavik, went back to her hometown to visit her mother, who suffers from dementia. But when, one fine morning, a dead body is washed ashore right before her eyes, her holiday spirit evaporates. And when the locals instinctively call it an accident, her criminological instincts take over. But investigating on her own doesn't win her any friends – not among the locals and certainly at among the local police. Franka Potente's return to Germany is more a layover among Iceland's rugged nature. Here she meets people who suppress their emotions so completely that it's no wonder that they at some point erupt with uncontrolled energy – just like Icelandic gushing springs. Til Endemann moved the crime element of his film gently into the background, giving his protagonists ample room for subtle nuances (Internationales Filmfest Oldenburg)
