Russie, dans les années 90. Portée depuis l'enfance par la rigueur et l'exigence du professeur Bojinski, Polina est une danseuse classique prometteuse. Alors qu'elle s'apprête à intégrer le prestigieux ballet du Bolchoï, elle assiste à un spectacle de danse contemporaine qui la bouleverse profondément. C'est un choc artistique qui fait vaciller tout ce en quoi elle croyait. Elle décide de tout quitter et rejoint Aix-en-Provence pour travailler avec la talentueuse chorégraphe Liria Elsaj et tenter de trouver sa propre voie. (UGC Distribution)

This is a good film about dancing, which should make you realize that it is terribly wrong for art to be bound by conventions and rules. You need to put your soul into it and only then is it possible to create something great, new, and beautiful. The film isn't really like that, but the message is good.

Live your life to the rhythm of dance, or better said, dance your life. That's a short way of describing this decent film. Unlike other reviewers, I really liked Anastasia Shevtsova in the title role, and not just because she danced beautifully. What I liked even more was the almost perfect connection between ballet and music, whether classical or modern. It lifted me out of my seat and made me want to dance too. The story is a bit different from similarly styled films, which I give a definite thumbs up for. The overall tone is somewhat bittersweet. (80%)
