Muzzikanti is the film full of songs and tunes based on the folk roots and contemporary young rock. Its story is set in the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland – in a rough, but scenic countryside of Cieszyn Silesia, where there a word of a man still has its strength, glamour of women attracts since time immemorial and the music is irreplaceable. Les conditions préalables étaient pourtant réunies : un réalisateur slovaque expérimenté, des acteurs renommés d'Europe centrale, un thème musical captivant… Malheureusement, le résultat n’est pas du tout à la hauteur. Petr Šiška a beau avoir de multiples talents, l’écriture de scénarios n’est manifestement pas son point fort. L’histoire est nulle et consiste en un patchwork confus de performances musicales plus ou moins réussies, de scènes ratées avec nos pseudocélébrités et des corps dénudés de Michalina et Sara. Une étoile pour Michalina, qui gaspille son immense talent dans une merde comme celle-ci, et une autre pour la bande musicale qui s’avère relativement correcte.

The script, direction and acting are not up to much, but thanks to the quite passable music, shots of the beautiful landscape of Silesia and the decent acting of Patrik Děrgel, it is still somehow livable through. I just was disappointed that Patrik didn't actually do any singing himself. He could certainly have managed, although perhaps not as well as Peter Cmorik. (40%)
