Masters of Florence (2016) (S01)

anglais The first season brought me quite a few disappointments, but I still found it fairly enjoyable, so my overall feelings are mixed. The pace of the story suffered due to the frequent shifts in time. In fact, even without time travel, the story often dragged on a bit. Given that it was about the Medici family, I was expecting a greater amount of intrigue and manipulation, so hopefully in the next season... ()

Péché originel (2016) (S01E01)

anglais I didn’t expect anything groundbreaking from the start, so I wasn’t disappointed when nothing like that happened. The plot was mostly interesting, aside from some dull moments. However, the story would have greatly benefited from fewer timeline switches. ()

Un dôme et un toit (2016) (S01E02)

anglais My feelings about the second episode were almost identical to the first. I enjoyed it overall, but the constant time jumps were annoying, and I’m still struggling to find a favorite character. Compared to The Borgias with Jeremy Irons, this series lacks the rich plot and stellar cast. ()

Le Fléau de dieu (2016) (S01E03)

anglais The third episode showed a significant decrease in time jumps, which I quickly appreciated and rewarded with an extra star. This made the plot feel faster-paced and more cohesive. Still, it’s not quite a strong four-star for me; something’s just missing. 4*- ()

Le Jour du jugement (2016) (S01E04)

anglais The episode tried to be dramatic but didn’t quite hit the mark. It was a bit boring at times, and Contessina’s outburst in the Signoria felt unnecessarily theatrical. But at least I finally understood why the two families hate each other. ()

Tentations (2016) (S01E05)

anglais In the fifth episode, I finally gave a better rating. The plot dragged in places, but the increased amount of intrigue made up for it. There was scheming everywhere, and I enjoyed every bit of it. ()

Ascension (2016) (S01E06)

anglais Maybe I got used to it, or maybe the creators picked up the pace, but the story moved along quite decently this time (helped by the lack of time jumps). All the subplots held my attention, so I’m actually looking forward to the next episode. ()

Purgatoire (2016) (S01E07)

anglais The seventh episode had its moments but it wasn’t as gripping as I hoped. Some parts felt flat, and the internal hunt for the killer came off as more desperate than thrilling. After the previous episode, I was expecting a bit more. ()

Révélations (2016) (S01E08)

anglais I probably trusted the creators too much expecting a proper season finale. The excitement just wasn’t there. It felt like they realized too late this was the final episode and rushed to tie up all the storylines. ()
